*The good thing about these lists can be that if the writers of the list have similar taste to you and rank an artist quite highly that you never gave much attention to, you might gain exposure to an artist that you really like but never heard of before he/she was mentioned on a list.*

Agree wholeheartedly with most of your points, especially this one. It's cool to hear about everyone's thoughts on musicians they've favored over time. Interesting to note that Rolling Stone Mag. did a similar Top 100 (believe it was 2004) and JG came out at #13 (Keith Richards at10, Kurt Cobain at 12 -- barely knew 6 chords) ! http://www.hotguitarist.com/guitar_artists/guitar_players.htm

There's a lot of really great players out there, thankfully. So here's a few guitarists I've listened to and enjoyed a lot, in no particular order... and I won't mind admitting that I'm hoping to glean some new insights from anyone who'll share...

JG, Eric Clapton, Leo Kottke, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mark Knopfler, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Robert Johnson, Rev. Gary Davis, Chet Atkins

almost forgot David Bromberg...

I've said it many, many times: love Leo! Think he's one of the best on the geezer circuit these days (still looks like he's sixteen).
